CONTEXT

I have embarked on an ambitious journey with our client to create a cloud-based smart manufacturing platform. This platform brings together resources from their Metrology and Production Software, as well as Design and Engineering Software units.

The goal of this new platform is to facilitate smooth design and execution of workflows across engineering and production settings. Additionally, it aims to integrate our client’s hardware by utilizing a collection of digital twins.

Striving for intuitive interfaces, seamless interactions, and quick response times, necessitating careful design, testing, and balancing advanced features with simplicity.

Approach

1. Launch customer research

with over 20 customers interviews across various industries to understand their needs and pain points.

2. Leverage user research insights

to generate new concepts through hybrid collaborative workshops with experts and clients stakeholders

3. Prototype concepts

to further test specific features and validate the concept with future potential customers

4. Prioritize the backlog

and deliver the MVP roadmap to the client for implementation. Develop our client’s in-house capabilities for this product and future cloud ventures with a core team of upskilled practitioners.

Results

  • Built in-house cloud venture setup capabilities (e.g., design ops, cloud architecture, business analysis)

  • Defined their target state and a comprehensive strategy to get there  (e.g., business modeling, customer research & validation, GTM & launch strategy)

  • Injected external view, best practices and benchmarks (e.g., on target business metrics, pricing schemes), while leveraging existing prework
